Time for Change

Time for Change

Have the pandemic restrictions and online learning caused you to re-examine what you want for your child’s educational journey? For many parents, spending time at home working with their students to accomplish schoolwork has created new insights about their children and the way they learn.

If you are thinking that now is a good time to make a change in your child’s school setting, we want to give you a glimpse of why a switch to ARCHES Academy can provide your child with a unique and transformative choice in education.

Why Switch Now?

The global pandemic created upheaval in our American education system. Across the nation, schools closed and students were forced to learn a new way—at home, on a computer screen, without trusted friends and teachers around. For some, digital learning fits their specific learning style. But for many more, the absence of peer relationships and hands-on learning was challenging.

ARCHES Academy was able to prioritize in-person learning for the 2020-21 school year. Our small class sizes allowed us to stay together to keep everyone safe. We were fortunate to stay open, keeping a consistent, caring learning environment for all children that reduced the stress and anxiety of the unknown. You can read more about the lengths we go to protect our students and teachers at school, here in our FAQ.

We know consistency is a concern you may have when considering a change in schools for your student. Will my child be ready for the new school? Will there be learning gaps that I need to address at home?

At ARCHES Academy, we treat every student as the unique person that they are. Beginning with enrollment, we survey each child and family to better understand them; including personality, learning style(s), and preferences. We assess every child so we can tailor learning plans and focus on needs; curating a personalized day-to-day class schedule.

We further support every ARCHES student with our self-paced learning culture, help in goal-setting, celebrating milestones and mastery, and aligning strong mentor relationships. It doesn’t matter where students start with us, we’ll take them from there and get them where they need to be!

Simply put, ARCHES Academy is a new approach to education in a time when American education already faces a critical call to change.

The old way of grouping students together just because they are the same age has resulted in far too many students struggling to keep up with their peers and giving up on themselves, or bored because they have already mastered the material and are now trying to entertain themselves. Our students are organized by abilities, not just by age. We ensure each student learns by doing, shares responsibilities and tasks, and recognizes a meaningful role in small and large groups.

ARCHES is proud of our intentionally chosen curriculum, opportunities to weave art and music into our daily lessons, and emphasis on character and leadership development. We also teach real-world leadership skills such as listening, presentation/public speaking, time management, and goal setting, and we focus on activities that develop independence in the student.

As we slowly emerge from the pandemic restrictions, ARCHES Academy doesn’t have to scramble to reinvent education. We can stay consistent in our mission: to Inspire scholars by honoring the gifts within each. We invite you to visit ARCHES Academy and find out why now is a great time to make the switch to your local free Kindergarten-8th grade public charter school, where children truly come first.
